Aims
Streetwise aims to make circus skills accessible to people throughout Northern Ireland - irrespective of gender, age, disability, or economic, religious or cultural background. We achieve this by providing circus workshops throughout the community, run by teams of experienced tutors
AIMS OF STREETWISE COMMUNITY CIRCUS WORKSHOPS
SCCW provides its tutors with training in teaching circus skills, 1st Aid, Child protection, disability awareness and Makaton communication training, to make our workshops an inclusive and safe environment for all participants and clients to learn and develop circus skills.
SCCW aims to make circus performing/teaching a viable and sustainable living for our members. We do this by providing our members with training in the form of skills and performance training; by providing directors for public performances; providing samba training and the provision of facilities to help develop new material. We aim to develop our members' teaching and performance skills to a high quality, raising standards in performance, act development and creativity within our membership.
We aim to develop new markets for performers and circus workshops and increase existing markets by making acts and workshops available throughout Ireland.
Streetwise Community Circus Workshops have full public liability for all our activities and all our staff are police checked through Belfast city council.
